
CHAPTER VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

ROLE PROFILE
·
As Director - Volunteer Resources you are the
volunteer leader for a dynamic grassroots MADD Canada Chapter within your community. You will work collaboratively with fellow
board members; community partners and the national office to support our mission.
·
1-2 year term, 5-10+ hours / month.
PREREQUISITE
·
Be an active Chapter member.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES
·
Chair and prepare agendas and minutes for the
volunteer management committee (if applicable).
·
Recruit (with committee support) Chapter volunteers
and board members.
·
Conduct volunteer interviews and volunteer screening
(if applicable).
·
Conduct volunteer orientation and training; maintain
regular contact / follow-up with volunteers and develop a plan to recognize volunteers
regularly.
·
Attend monthly board / Chapter meetings and annual general
and / or general meetings.
·
Contribute to a Chapter newsletter (if applicable).
·
Champion and lead volunteer management projects,
campaigns and initiatives (i.e., National Volunteer Week) as agreed upon by the
board of directors.
·
Assist the Chapter Secretary (board of directors) and
/ or the Chapter Administrative Assistant with accurate volunteer reporting.
·
Co-ordinate volunteer needs for any fundraising and
awareness campaigns (i.e., Project Red Ribbon campaign, Strides for Change Walk, mall displays, fairs,
etc…).
·
Work collaboratively with fellow board members; your
community; community partners (i.e., police, fire, emergency medical services,
media, schools, health department, local merchants, companies, etc…) and the
national office.
·
Maintain regular contact / communication with fellow
board members; committee chairs; volunteers; members and the national office.
·
Act as a spokesperson & community liaison for the
Chapter (as required).
·
Actively recruit volunteers in the community by
reaching out to community groups, schools, businesses, clubs, etc…
·
Make presentations, meet and network with groups and
individuals on a regular basis.
·
Post volunteer vacancies on
·
Actively seek opportunities to partner and build
strategic alliances / partnerships within your local community.
·
Be knowledgeable about MADD Canada’s policies,
programs and services.
·
Promote the Chapter positively within your community.
·
Promote volunteer opportunities within your Chapter
and lead by example.
·
Share your skills and expertise as a leader.
·
Meet new people; gain new insights and experiences.
·
Explore or confirm new career opportunities.
·
Learn about volunteerism and the field of volunteer management
(become familiar with MADD Canada’s volunteer recruitment & retention
materials / practices).
·
Contribute to the well-being of your community.
·
You possess strong leadership, communication and networking
skills.
·
You are a people person; creative and a team player.
·
You have prior volunteer or professional experience
co-ordinating and managing volunteers (preferred, but not required).
·
A certificate or diploma in volunteer management
(preferred, but not required).
·
You have prior experience serving on a board of directors
(preferred, but not required).
·
You will receive an Orientation Guide and might be
asked to attend an Orientation Session (from / by your local Chapter).
·
You will be supported and trained by fellow board members
and / or the Chapter Administrative Assistant.
·
