
CHAPTER VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

To stop impaired driving
and to support victims of this violent crime.
ROLE PROFILE
·
As Director - Media Relations, you are a leader for a
dynamic grassroots MADD Canada Chapter within your community. You will work collaboratively with fellow
board members; community partners and the national staff to support our mission.
·
1-2 year term, 5-8+ hours / month.
PREREQUISITE
·
Be an active Chapter member.
RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES
·
Actively seek opportunities to promote MADD Canada
and your local Chapter.
·
Raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving
(drinking and / or drugs).
·
Nurture positive relationships with local media (newspapers,
television, radio, magazines, community newsletters, etc...).
·
Maintain regular contact with the media – newspapers,
radio and television.
·
Partake in media interviews as needed.
·
Keep a log of media contacts.
·
Co-ordinate press / news releases; invite the media
to Chapter events (i.e., launches, anniversaries, victim vigils, etc…).
·
Chair and prepare agendas and minutes for the public
awareness / media relations committee (if applicable).
·
Attend monthly board / Chapter meetings.
·
Attend
annual general and / or general meetings.
·
Assist committee chairs and members as necessary.
·
Act as a spokesperson & community liaison for the
Chapter (as necessary).
·
Work collaboratively with fellow board members; your
community; community partners (i.e., police, fire, emergency medical services,
media, schools, health department, local merchants, companies, etc…) and the
national office.
·
Be knowledgeable about MADD Canada’s policies,
programs and services.
·
Promote the Chapter positively within your community.
·
Act as a signing officer for the Chapter (as
required).
·
Attend the National Leadership Conference (strongly
encouraged).
·
Actively seek opportunities to partner and build
strategic alliances / partnerships.
·
Lead by example.
